Editorial:
New hands at the helm: change of Editor-in-Chief
With great pleasure the editorial office of Interdisciplinary Information Sciences
would like to announce the new Editor-in-Chief: Professor Nobuaki Obata. Professor Obata,
who has taken over from Professor Hajime Urakawa, has served as a member of the editorial
board since April 2006.
The editorial office is indebted to Professor Urakawa, who has served the journal as Editor-in-Chief
from April 2000 to March 2008. During this period accessibility to the journal has remarkably increased
thanks to the free online service by JSTAGE (Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic):

Moreover, the quality of the journal has been enhanced with a steady increase of submissions and special
issues for proceedings of international conferences. The editorial office is pleased that Professor Urakawa
has agreed to continue his support for the journal as a member of the editorial board.
We hope that Interdisciplinary Information Sciences will continue to provide a forum for researchers
who engage in the interdisciplinary fields of the contemporary information science. Submission of
review papers as well as regular research papers is encouraged, accepting the condition that all papers
published in Interdisciplinary Information Sciences will have to be sent for peer review in advance.
Changes in the membership of the editorial board have occurred. The Editor-in-Chief would like to thank
those who have retired from the board for their support during the past years, and we hope that they
will continue to assist the journal cooperating with the continuing and newly appointed editorial board members.
The editorial office would like to take this opportunity to express their sincere thanks to all who have helped
Interdisciplinary Information Sciences in the past, and would highly appreciate your constant help and support in the future.
