Media and Culture

Japanese version

Lab's Web page
  We are currently experiencing great change of media society that is influenced by radical development of media technology. We are required to produce alternative and flexible paradigms and perspectives for research of contemporary media without being obstinate old dogmas. It is the most urgent academic requirement for current media studies.
  In order to respond to the requirement, our laboratory makes researches with (1) critical view, (2) practical attitude, and (3) collaborative dialog as follows;
  Research on mass media and local media, research on media literacy and media education, research on media structure and design, research on history, ideology and philosophy of media, research on alternative media and the Internet, research on media representation and media art, etc.
  It is necessary to observe accumulated knowledge and philosophy of media and culture and to practice actively in actual society. For that purpose, we should have a sincere attitude to this fluctuating and influential media as a research subject, on the assumption of merging theory and practice, digital and analogue, and different dogmas and ideologies.
