The laboratory focuses its research on the design and development of high-performance supercomputing systems and their applications. Targeted areas range from the key components of supercomputing systems, which include processor architectures, memory subsystems, network systems, task schedulers, and compilers, to high-performance multimedia processing algorithms such as photo-realistic computer graphics and intelligent pattern recognition. The laboratory also has active research on a HPC Cloud that aims at providing High Performance Computing as a service by integrating geographically distributed and networked high performance computing resources into virtual collaboration spaces.
Currently, our on-going projects are as follows:
- High-performance low-power microprocessor architectures and their applications
- Supercomputing systems and their applications
- High Performance Computing Cloud / Data-Intensive Computing
- Photo-realistic computer graphics
- High-performance/high-function document recognition systems capable of handling text information
